Hello everyone,
I hope this newsletter finds you all in good health and high spirits. First and foremost, I want to extend my apologies for the long pause in our communication. Life has its way of getting busier than we anticipate, and I regret not being able to write to you as often as I would have liked. However, I'm thrilled to be back, to be more consistent in sharing valuable information about skincare. 🌟
Now, let's jump right into what we're all here for: learning how to effectively care for acne. Acne is a common concern that affects many of us, and together, we can equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools to combat it.
☀️ Daytime Acne Care Routine:
Gentle Cleansing: Start your day with a gentle cleanser that soothes your skin. If your skin is sensitive or easily irritated, this step is crucial to maintain a balanced skin. You can use salicylic acid based cleansers if you skin can tolerate it.
Spot Treatment - Salicylic Acid or Azelaic Acid: If you're dealing with dark spots or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from previous breakouts, apply a product containing azelaic acid to help fade those unwanted marks. If you have used a salicylic acid cleanser, you don’t need to use it as the “treat” step
Sunscreen Protection: Shield your skin from harmful UV rays by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Sunscreen not only protects your skin from damage but also prevents dark spots from worsening.
🌙 Nighttime Acne Care Routine:
Benzoyl Peroxide / Salicylic Acid Cleanser: In the evening, opt for a cleanser that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. This powerful combination helps combat acne-causing bacteria, unclog pores, and reduce inflammation. Try not to use the these ingredients together as the combination can be very irritating
Treat with Adapalene: Use an adapalene-based product, which promotes skin cell turnover and prevents new breakouts from forming.
Moisturize - Choose Wisely: Moisturising is essential, regardless of your skin type. If you have oily skin, go for a mattefying moisturizer to control excess oil production. For those with dry skin, a hydrating moisturiser will keep your skin supple and nourished.
Note: Tailor it to Your Skin Remember, every individual's skin is unique, and what works for one might not work for another. This guideline serves as a starting point for your acne care journey, but feel free to tweak it according to your skin's needs. If you're unsure about any product or step, consult with a dermatologist for personalized advice.
Alright, see you in the next newsletter!
